ABOUT:
Hearthy Agar-agar is a plant-based gelatin derived from seaweed. This jelly-like substance is a mix of carbohydrates and is a vegetarian alternative to gelatin in various dishes such as puddings, mousses, jellies, ice cream, gummy bears, and cheesecake. In comparison to gelatin, agar-agar sets more quickly, doesn't require refrigeration, and stays firm when exposed to higher temperatures.
Agar-agar is tasteless and odorless, which makes it an ideal gelling agent to add to any type of recipe. Dishes made with agar-agar will be firmer and less creamy than those made with gelatin. In addition, agar-agar has several health benefits and is a source of natural dietary fiber, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, calcium, iron, and minerals. I created Hearthy Foods because of my mom. For years, she suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure. I remember the day the doctor told her that she had to eliminate rice, naan, and rotis from her diet. For an Indian mother, these were her life staples. I felt so helpless looking at my mom's face and seeing the sadness in her eyes. This is when I had the idea to start a wellness company. Although my mother is no longer with us, it was her struggle that inspired me to start the first plant-based flour and halal wellness company.
