As a first-gen Asian American, I grew up drinking tea as a way to connect with my family. Through my economics research, I learned of the inequities in the tea industry that lead to poor outcomes for independent farmers. I started Uproot to celebrate the culture of drinking real, farm-to-cup tea leaves - no added flavoring nor toxic teabags, while partnering directly with growers. We pay farm partners 20-100x fair trade prices by eliminating middlepeople, supporting sustainable ag.
